a strange year

a strange year

fall colors have been unusual this year. these maple leaves tell it all. usually the maple in my area go from saturated orange to equally saturated  fire engine red. this dusty faded pinky shrimp color is entirely new for us. it’s beautiful. i am enjoying it. i’m attributing it to the drought we had this summer. but still. i wonder.

braiding maples

i heard today that because october was so warm this year, that folks near me have had lilacs blooming. that’s not right.  and the maple tree in my neighbors yard has completely changed color and the leaves are dropping, while the maples in my yard are still entirely green. everyone and everything is confused.
