overcoming adversity
this mullein flower probably got stepped on at a very formative age. it not only survived but went on to thrive. and of all the winter stems i could have picked today, this one was definitely the most interesting and beautiful to me. there is a lesson in there if you’re looking for one.
great common mullein (Verbascum)
shellacked in ice
rain. snow. freeze. thaw. march is tricky.march is indecisive.
ice covered spruce branch tips
march rains
soupy. wet. gray. cold. icy. march is the fiercest of all northern months.
over-wintered oak leaves with freezing rain
asemic whispers of spring
it’s march in minnesota. our ugliest month. but beauty can still be found.
cattail leaves
a generous spirit
yesterday, we were gifted a dozen farm fresh eggs from one of steve’s tax clients. this particular client (i am talking about you jenny) is one of the most generous souls i know. from the very first time i met her almost 9 years ago until now, she continues to surprise me with her thoughtfulness and generosity. i mean, i have moments of thoughtfulness and generosity. but i am not very consistent. whereas she seems to somehow live in it all the time. never once have i had an interaction with her where i haven’t come away inspired/grateful/uplifted. some people are pure souls. jenny is one.
