my favorite week of the year
this week between christmas and new year has always been one of my favorite weeks of the year. the gatherings are over. obligations and expectations are done. businesses are idling. the inbox is mostly quiet. for one week our over-driven american lifestyle downshifts into second gear, and everyone coasts. for one week. i recently heard someone refer to this week as dead week. it is definitely a week that feels different than most of the other weeks of the year. it deserves a name. and dead week works for me. so, here’s to wishing you a quiet and relaxing dead week! there will be plenty of time for new projects after the new year. take it slow this week. i plan to do a lot of sitting by the fire, reading, and drinking far too many cups of hot cider.
all is calm, all is bright.
hapyy and spent. peace out.
winding down
i have my kids home, and presents to wrap, candles to light, a fire to builf, and meals to make and enjoy. so i will be sharing a few oldies but goodies the next few days while i put down my camera to enjoy the season.
happy winter holidays all!
i am deeply grateful you show up here.

look up
snow has been gently flling all day today. there has been a lot of photos of snow on (branches, tree tops, twigs, winter grasses, deer) already. i’m feeling a little repetitive. but STILL is a daily practice, and snow is what’s happening. so snow it is. besides, there is power in repetition.
