my daughter and i were cutting firewood yesterday and we came across this two-toned limb. so i cut a few slices for STILL. while i hovered over my camera lining up my shot, my son walked by and casually said “yum, tuna rolls”.

Looks like Ailanthus – does the pith smell a bit like peanut butter?
Interesting-I am not familiar with that tree. I just looked it up. It very well could be. I just took a sniff of the discs and couldn’t make out any distinguishing scents. I am intrigued though. I’ll see if I can find the source of my limb. Yay, I love learning new things :-) Thanks Jenn!
i love the analogy. Perhaps you can dye with the dark centers.
