swirling
i spent the day half-sleeping on the screen porch that we turn into a sleeping porch each summer. we use it for summer nights quite often, but it’s been a long time since i spent an entire afternoon lounging out there. wow! all the memories of endless childhood days came flooding back as i lay listless and drifting, letting all the noises of summer wash over me; kids screaming, dogs barking, wind blowing, wet feet slapping on docks, speedboats racing to the far shore, squirrels scampering, garbage trucks beeping, lawnmowers drowning out the birdsong, birdsong drowning out the breeze, and indignant red squirrels drowning out everything.
