lucky charms

these redwood sorrel plants blanketed the forest floor beneath the cathedral canopy of muir woods. i did not take them from muir woods, although i am admittedly the type who might just have tried to sneak one or two. i know that rules technically do apply to me, but i am a rebel whose first instinct is always to break rules first, and reluctantly consider following them later, if, and only if, they make sense to me. when we learned that it was forbidden to take any natural items from the beaches of big sur, steve, my rule following husband, thought to himself, “oh, that’s too bad. it would be nice if mary jo could gather a few things for still blog. oh well.” what i thought to myself was, “we’re going to have to be VERY discreet…”
