thanks sian. i think each vendangeur gave joseph one or two nests, not knowing the others had, so by the end of the harvest he had 15! everyone was so proud to present him with the nest they found that day. it was really quite charming.
each nest is so incredibly unique, and yet they each have bits of the grape vines–some used the bark, some used the stems, and some even had the spat out seed of the grapes!
how lovely – what a great gift : ) we’re just starting to see the nests in the hedges, I love the tiny moss lined ones.
