a carrot of sorts

this is not queen anne’s lace, but i know it’s related because it is in the carrot family. when we were in france, we saw a mid-autumn flower that had folded up into a sort of spider web tangle, and we kept asking everyone what it was. it was queen anne’s lace after the summer blossoms had begun to retract and fade. but since everything in france comes back to food, that october queen anne’s lace was described to us as “a kind of wild carrot.”
