in this series i was inspired by matisse’s paper cut outs, in particular, the simplicity of his shapes and compositions. i wanted to work with paper cut outs and challenge myself to strive for a similar simplicity.
Thank you so much! For some reason making these collages, and sharing them, feels a little scarier than my daily STILL photos. With STILL, nature does all the hard work, and I do the glory work of taking a simple photo. Making something from nothing is more challenging for sure. So I appreciate your kind words.

Now that I put some more time into staring at this: The movement in it reminds me of a load in the back of a pick-up truck as it bounces over a bump in the road. It has a suspension that can’t possibly survive, and yet there it is. A little gasp, a little stomach float-y. Sussing it out for myself doesn’t make me love it any less. So thank you, again.
I could stare at this all day.
