inspired by pierre soulages, no. 3

this collage series was entirely inspired by french painter pierre soualges. in fall 2016, i visited his museum in rodez, france. his black on black paintings, part of his outrenoir (beyond black) series, tapped into something deep within me. and i haven’t stopped thinking about them since that visit. this series, is my first homage to m. soulages, and will certainly not be my last.

this series is made solely with black paint, mixed with different gel mediums to create different finishes from matte to gloss.
