we have yet to see one of these elusive languedocien squirrels
in any case, i love these nibbled cones

I find similar remnants when I walk in our woods. The squirrels here also leave neat piles of the scales at their feeding places. Our squirrels are not mysterious or shy – they are plump and sleek, and run right across our back porch and look in the window!

and was surprised to find that many of them had already started to set roots
