artist’s conk, a bracket fungus. my favorite part is the raspberrry cane that either grew right through the fungus, or that the fungus grew around.

it takes a lot of gall

blackberry knot gall–the wasp diastrophus nebulosus lives inside. you can see the exit holes created by the adults as they hatched out.
