yesterday’s gradient of curly dock revisited. i felt a close-up was worthy so you could see the exquisite detail in these seed clusters. the seeds are encased in the calyx of the flower that produced them. this casing enables the seeds to float on water and get caught in wool and animal fur, and this helps the seeds to spread to new locations. tiny one-man boats. ingenious. nature. you’re so good.

one more trip around the sun

i want to feel as if we are entering a new era with the end of this year, but, as hopeful as i want to be, i feel in a state of suspension. not enough of 2020 has been resolved. let’s do our best this year, and check back with each other in six months or so. i am hopeful, if not quite optimistic.
