after a bad party

it feels like i’m walking through the house with a headache, and i keep seeing evidence of just how out of hand the party got last night, and remembering how awful the guests were.

hope

roses have been symbols of love, rebirth, and hope for millenia. some things endure, despite the despair that short term events sometimes elicit. in the year 3,000, there will still be roses. make your thousand year plans. know that yesterday was a shameful episode in a long story, and decide what you will want to be true, not tomorrow, not in 2021, but when your great grandchildren’s great grandchildren’s great grandchilren’s great grandchildren will be alive, and trying to make sense of their lives.

as a thumbnail on my imac desktop, this image looks a lot like a tear in white paper. that has to be symbolic of something. the tear in the fabric of our society? a tear in the polar ice caps? a tear in the white history of our nation? or is it a tear at all? is it just a winter cattail looking tired but strong after one hell of a year?
