palm springs, day 4

dusty rose and sage green never get old. today i am visiting the palm springs museum of art to see the Helen Frankenthaller exhibit. i read a biography about her only weeks before i booked my trip to palm springs, not knowing about the show. so it was marvelous serendipity that they are having a show of her work while i am here. i am choosing to take that as an auspicious sign that 2022 will be a good year for me.

palm springs, day 1

hey guys, i am on my way to palm springs, california for five days! my first vacation in two years. i am so excited for a change of scenery. i was happy to cancel everything and nest in 2020. but let’s face it, 2021 was a grind. while we weren’t technically sheltering in place nor quarentining that much in 2021, i was still being extra cautious because i was the primary caretaker for my 85 year old mom. so, 2 years in a very (geographically) small and prescribed routine has left me feeling very sapped of energy and inspiration. so, i am off to beautiful palm springs to go fill my well a bit. i am traveling light  this time (i.e. no camera equipment), so i have queued up five california desert-y STILL photos from previous years so you can continue to get your STILL fix each morning while i am away.

what’s your love language?

what’s your love language?

are you familiar with the 5 love languages? if not, do yourself a favor and google it, and take the short assessment to see what your love language is. in my opinion, it is one of the more informative of all the personality tests. my love language is acts of service. of the five love languages, gifts ranks the lowest for me. so when my son and his girlfriend went for a winter walk yesterday to go feed the trumpeter swans and then carried home for me this cattail and grape vine sculptural art, i declared it the best act of service ever. was it a gift or an act of service you ask? knowing how inconvenient it is to carry delicate specimens home from a long walk, i am declaring it an act of service. thank you joseph and josie, it’s perfect!
