Wild fennel is everywhere here. One of my favorite things about driving narrow rural roads in the Languedoc is holding my hand out the window and letting it brush along a row of fennel that then perfumes the car. It is hard to photograph because it is so lacy and large that details can get lost if I back up far enough to fit the whole plant in my frame. Today we gave it a shot, with a camera, a tripod, a white bed sheet, a fallow vineyard, and a mostly cooperative hubby.
