jumping the rails

i have about a half dozen trails i rotate through on my daily walks. i don’t rotate through them in order, rather i pick one each day based on such factors as whether i need shade, or a wind block , or how much foot traffic there might be. my friend kristin often accompanies me, and about a week ago she started making noise about the need for “a change of scenery”. i thought to myself, you go ahead, i am super happy with my obscure little trails where i can let jack the puggle go off leash. but today she picked me up, and brought me to silverwood art park in minneapolis. i didn’t exactly go kicking and screaming, but i wasn’t prepared to be impressed either. well, jack found a dead fish to roll in, so he was ecstatic. and i found an oriole nest. ok kristin. you win. thank you for yanking me out of my comfort zone.
